I'm reaching the end of high school, and it is about time I know where I am heading in life. I have known FOREVERthat I would become an elementary school teacher. I would get my associates in Child Development, bachelors in Elementary Education, and Masters in Administration. But where would I complete these most precious schooling years of my life?!? At first I wanted to just stay in Utah. After moving to Las Vegas I knew that Utah was THEE PLACE for me. I wanted to Utah State University because it had the top elementary education program in all of Utah. But I decided I want to live far from where I am most comfortable and experience life outside of Utah. I want to feel the responsibilty of being independent, and relying on myself for things that I never had to worry about in High School. I figured New York would be the perfect place to go! Although I know New York is only like a 15% chance of ever living there; it doesn't hurt to dream! Not because New York University is a hard school to get into, but because living expenses is CRAZY! Rent is 2100 between 2 people! That is like mortgage for a house! Living in New York is my dream! And there is nothing wrong with dreaming big, even when you know there is only a slight chance!
I want to learn to be independent, have a bacelors and masters under my belt to support my future family. It scares me to think that in a couple of years most Americans will lose their jobs because it will be handed over to other countries. If you don't have some sort of education under your belt you are just a LOST cause! It is SO important to have some degree under your belt so you will be able to make a living to support your future family.
I know I am going to go on my mission. 3 more years to go! I can't wait to give back to the lord and spread the gospel to those who need it in their lives. After serving a mini mission I gained a much BIGGER apprecation and understanding for all the hardwork and dedication these missionaries have to put forward. And I can't wait to get that opportunity.

Dream big and if you want to live in New York, I know you can do it, even if it's only a few months!
I'm glad that you make education and missionary work both important. Your life will just be doubly blessed!
